Dona hails from La Porte, Texas, just outside of Houston. She moved to Oregon to attend college at Portland State, earning a degree in Public Health with a minor in Women’s Studies before completing a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Pacific University. She currently works at the Northwest Regional Education Service District, serving kiddos with special needs.
Dona has been a philanthropist her entire life. In high school, she volunteered at a women’s center, doing hotline work. She’ll never forget the first call she took – a case of elder abuse. Dona also served as a domestic violence advocate.
Dona even finds a way to give back while indulging her hobbies! She’s a Dragon Boat enthusiast and crews teams of all ages, from teens to octogenarians. She has led a team of special needs adults, a visually impaired team and a team of cancer survivors. She’s a true community builder in EVERY sense of the word!
When not working or crewing Dragon Boats, you’ll find her soaking up the great outdoors, scoring the perfect dress at Goodwill, or – like so many of our Mavens – using her beautiful voice to belt out performance-worthy karaoke.
